We Are VitrA ®

A GLOBAL COMPANY

vitra madrid

It all started with a small workshop in the Kartal district of Istanbul. In 1942 and a team of eight men worked tirelessly to supply the country with a variety of clay products that could not be imported into Turkey during World War II.

The Dr Nejat Eczacıbaşı ceramic factory, as it was then called, was the forerunner of VitrA . After the war, the economic revival was accompanied by a construction boom, which meant that there was an increased demand for ceramic toilets, and the Kartal factory led the way. In 1958 , the company opened its first modern production plant dedicated to ceramic sanitary ware, following a growing demand for material, as marble lost popularity. In 1966 VitrA was adopted as a brand, a shortening of vitrify (to create something akin to the hardness and polishing of glass) or vitrified products: ceramic .

To diversify the company, a faucet production plant was opened in 1979 , a strategic commitment to offer complementary bathroom products together with sanitary ware . Then, an undisputed leader in the Turkish market, VitrA launched the brand internationally in 1983 . Today VitrA is considered the leading global provider of a complete range of bathroom components.

VitrA supplies millions of pieces of sanitary ware every year. 50% of the brand's production is sold abroad through a powerful distribution network that includes more than 150 exhibitions and 2,000 points of sale in the main cities of more than 75 countries on 5 continents.
